Wow! Today was an amazing today for me. Today we ministered in a village called Mirador and God broke my heart for that place. It seems the more and more that I see places and go on these mission trips, the less and less that happens. This place though was soooo poor and there people were so needy.
I wasn’t even going to go out this morning, I was going to stay back and pray for the groups that were ministering but last second I decided to walk around with the prayer walk and pray with them. We met first a lady that lives in this village that is a believer. She helps to run a small group (9 people) that meets on Wednesday night. They also have a Sunday school class and they have a feeding program that feeds about 80 kids every morning. The lady, Reina, said that is the only meal that most of them eat every day. She told us that the are currently borrowing a building to have this but they can only borrow it until November. So she told us that they are praying about buying land and showed us several places that they are looking at buying.
Even bigger than that, I saw a kid experience God today in such a real way. We have been talking about God speaking and he was a little skeptical. However, he listened to God today and it was awesome. Several days ago, he had prayed and asked God to speak to him. He said a picture of a spider web kind of thing flashed into his mind and he was kind of like, whatever. Well, today, a motor taxi (basically a taxi attached to a 3 wheel motorcycle) pulled up and had a similar design. He told his leader that he felt like God wanted him to talk to the lady that God out of the taxi. Well, by that point the lady had already joined us on our prayer walk, because she was a friend of Reina, who was showing us around.
So, the kid, very nervous, started to share. We found out that Lucy had not been coming to church. Her children come to the feeding program and to the Sunday School but she doesn’t come. She told us that she knows about Jesus and believes he is very important but she hasn’t trusted him as her own because she feels like there is something else she needs first. This kid, shared with her his own testimony which included some stuff about his mom and how much she cared for him. This really hit home with her as she is a mom and could relate to the love of a mother. She really listened. She told us she was not ready to accept right now, but she would think about it and I believe she will. I prayed that she wouldn’t sleep until she surrendered. It was just such an amazing experience to watch him. I was so thankful to see him step out and try something that was very out of his box. Please pray for Lucy. Pray for Reina as she ministers there. Pray that God would provide the money needed for the land to feed children. Pray that kids would continue to listen to God and to obey him.
